    Emissions Reduction Incentive Grant (ERIG) & Workshops

    A new grant opportunity just opened up through the TCEQ called the Emissions Reduction Incentive Grant to replace older dirty diesel vehicles and equipment with cleaner options like alternative fuels. The grant pot of money is $50 million. Grants may pay up to 80% of the incremental cost for replacement and 50% for on-site refueling infrastructure.

    There are propane OEM platforms that could qualify for this program dependent on how old of a diesel you or your fleet customer are replacing including the following propane-powered vehicles: the Bluebird School Bus, MicroBird, Collins School Bus, Thomas buses, Freightliner chassis, as well as some Roush trucks and vans. Must be over 8,500 lbs. The vehicle you or your fleet replaced must be destroyed.

    The eligible counties include:

    o             Austin Area: Williamson, Travis, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Hays Counties

    o             Beaumont-Port Arthur: Hardin, Orange, and Jefferson Counties.

    o             Corpus Christi Area: Nueces and San Patricio Counties.

    o             Dallas-Fort Worth: Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Dallas, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Parker, and Wise Counties.

    o             Houston-Galveston-Brazoria: Brazoria, Fort Bend, Waller, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers,Galveston, and Harris Counties.

    o             San Antonio Area: Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson, and Bexar Counties.

    o             Tyler-Longview: Upshur, Gregg, Rusk, Smith and Harrison Counties.

    o             Victoria Area: Victoria County.

    TCEQ Texas Clean Fleet Program Incentives Available for Large Texas Fleets

    The Texas Clean Fleet Program (TCFP) administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is providing incentives to owners of large fleets both public fleets like school districts and municipalities as well as private fleets in the state to replace diesel-powered vehicles with alternative fuel.

    Texas Emission Reduction Grants (TERP) may result in cost reductions up to 80 percent off of heavy and light-duty vehicles.

    Eligible Applicants. Owners of fleets of 75 or more vehicles operated in Texas, at least 20 of which are diesel-powered vehicles, may be eligible to apply for a grant under this new program.

    Eligible Projects.
    Replacement of on-road heavy-duty diesel vehicles (8,500 lbs. or more)
    Replacement of on-road light-duty diesel vehicles (under 10,000 lbs.)

    Qualifying Vehicles:
    Alternative fuels, for this program, are limited to electricity, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), hydrogen, propane (LPG), or a mixture of fuels containing at least 85% methanol by volume (M85).

    Applications must be submitted by October 3, 2014 to be considered.
