North Texas Clean Air Initiative to Fund Cleaner Buses for School Districts

The North Central Texas Clean School Bus Grant Program opened this week. The program is a clean-air initiative through the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and covers Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise counties.

This grant will provide approximately $1 million in funding to help school bus owners and operators in the 10-county ozone nonattainment region reduce emissions and improve air quality by providing funds to improve or replace older diesel school buses. Eligible activities may include school bus replacement with a propane bus.

Applicants (school districts) must adopt the newly revised Clean Fleet Policy by the application deadline to be eligible. Grant recipients will be selected on a competitive basis.

For more information, please visit www.nctcog.org/cleanschoolbus or attend the Tuesday, January 20th grant workshop at 2:00 PM at NCTCOG offices to learn more about the grant opportunity. This workshop is FREE and open to all. Register for the workshop >>
